| Feb 23 2001 | Elfwood artist: Coen de Moor, (Click here to visit!) | beautiful! I love your colours. It's great how you suggest so much while revealing so little. We only see one witch, but all the other witches we don't see seem far more mysterious and special. The face of the witch we do see is very beautiful. She could be evil and dangerous, or she could be pure and good, she could even be scared. Hey Coen, this is marvellous, you see all kinds of things I never noticed in my own painting. I like it, thank you for telling me. I really appreciate the opinion from a great artist like you. |
| Apr 9 2001 | Elfwood artist: Kalorlo (Heather Kelly), (Click here to visit!) | Though there could be an entire circle of witches, shoulder to shoulder, moving so swiftly round we can only make out vague shapes in the blue blur... While the one we see clearly is still and separate, the moonlight glowing on her face. She's not in a graveyard, is she? The light is catching on straight edges that make me think of ancient, higgelty-piggelty gravestones. Yes, you are right, I never thought of this, I like it, it would fit to the figure. When I painted this, the white lines were supposed to be hats of the other wiches, but I like your idea much more. |
| Apr 18 2001 | Elfwood artist: Karl Lines, (Click here to visit!) | Well what can I say apart from I like!! Well Karl, if you like it as much as I like you, it is enough! :) |
| May 29 2001 | Elfwood artist: Kirk A. Dymbrowski | How did you make the witch whose face we see? Is she a painting? Yes it is a painting I don't know why I never visited this piece before(forgive me :)) But dear Kirk, you don't have to visit all my work, I haven't visited all yours neither. The thumbnail does not do it justice. Until I got up close to this piece I didn't realize there were so many other hooded witches milling about. What are they meeting for? magic? YEAHHH!! Counsel? Maybe?! I see a trace of blue sort of hazy in the middle of the piece.....thank you...its perfect. Thanks! It lights the one visible face just enough...with a nighttime light he he he. Kind of feel like I should be quiet when I look at this, so I don't disturb them. Anneke....can I make a request?.......next time you are by my gallery would you take a look at Anthraxa Overwhelms Too, for me? I did by now I made that after you told me my SweetLeaf was Corneillish....at the time I did not know what you meant....but I tried to make another piece in the same feeling as SweetLEaf Overwhelms..... I am going to go look at your private gallery.....I want to see more examples of your bright/dark transitions.... I hope I don't upset you with too many questions. No way :) I know your new job keeeps you very busy. Yes rather, but I will always make time for you, Kirk. |
| Jun 10 2001 | Elfwood artist: Karl 'Angel' Lines | dyknow something...I still Like LOL Still like you alot!:) |
| Aug 28 2001 | Elfwood artist: Martin Baldysz | Please scale this picture up... It looks great, but itæs kinda small' looks exelent. Yeah I know it is, but I'm a bit afraid of replacing a picture! The last time I did, I lost all the comments to the picture. Thank you very much for the visit, I'm honoured by it! I'm not surprised you picked out this picture :) |
| Oct 4 2001 | Elfwood artist: Karl 'Angel' Lines | Hello dark mist...still hiding those witches? Who says there are witches? LOL |
| Oct 6 2001 | Elfwood artist: Norma A. Peters | The beauty of this piece is its stark and impressive simplicity. You've portrayed a great deal in just a few striking lines. It was the first time I did, I was surprised myself, you could do that. Well isn't it just the beauty and the joy of creating, make your own surprises? *LOL* |
| Oct 17 2001 | Elfwood artist: Stanton F. Fink | I think you should rescale this picture. It's a scan of a photo, they always get this small, I have a new digital camera now, maybe I can make it larger now, I don't know yet. I'd like to see some of the details better. ME TOO!! There isn't any! LOL If you keep the jpg name the same, you'll be guaranteed to save the comments for the picture. Tell me something, I once changed the filenames of four pictures, the trouble you get then! You can't imagine! I had to put in (about)135 comments again. Twice! :) |
| Oct 31 2001 | Bastiaan van Kesteren | great atmosphere! I like her cap !!! reminds me of the witch in "hans and little griet" (little griet vertaald uit grietje *lol*) love this one! Thanks Bastiaan. Little griet! You're funny! |
| Dec 15 2000 | Jenifur | Hi! thanks for visiting my page! I love your work. gives me the feeling of a puppet show at midnight with witches pulling the strings....looks like a cold nordic midnight at that. I agree with you, it looks like it's cold out there. |
| Jan 25 2001 | Elfwood artist: tamsin isles, (Click here to visit!) | right, this is worrying me, because this is one of those pieces that i often come and look at, because i love it... but i am *sure* that i have left a comment on it before? but all evidence to the contrary here. another example of my weird *mind of matter* thing, where i think about something so much that i make myself *believe* i have done it... maybe i commented on something else? *mutters*... anyway, asides from me going obviously insane, i love this first for the colours, and second for the composition. beautiful, eerie midnight blues, and her face this shocking, radiant white. it's fabulous! Thank you Tamsin, coming from a VERY talented artist like you it is a great honour that you appreciate my work. |
| Nov 13 2001 | Elfwood artist: Bjørn Christian Mathiesen Granli | OOOOOOOOOOOOooHH MAMA!! This is so COOL! Gawd! I think this is my fave pic in your gallery now ^_^ I lurve it :¤ |
| Jan 6 2002 | Elfwood artist: Ebba Lovisa Dahlgren | I like dark, simple pictures.. This one is simple yet very effective emotionally. Ah. Thank you, Ebba! |
| Jan 26 2002 | Elfwood artist: Michael C Winchester | This is very striking. She looks list an apparition... very eerie. Wonderful work Anneke! :) --sincerely -nightling |
| Jan 29 2002 | Elfwood artist: Anneke Broenink | Hi Michael, I never thought of that, maybe she is an apparition. :) |
| Feb 5 2002 | Ashley Edge | BOO! BOOO TO YOU TOOO! |
| Feb 25 2002 | Elfwood artist: Kirk A. Dymbrowski | Who is the face in the cowl Anneke? Is it a famous model?.....Lara Croft ? LOL No, seriously just wondering because she looks very tangible , did you get a friend to model for you? No it's just a face that came out of my imagination, as they mostly do. Except for fanart of course, you need to make those faces as realistic as they can be. But not on fantasy. It's funny when I finished this, I saw she looks very much like a friend of mine, I must have been thinking of her while drawing.:) |
| Mar 15 2002 | Elfwood artist: Andrew Troman | Very atomospheric, lovely lighting, creepy visualisation... nice Thanks for the kind words, Andrew. |
| Mar 21 2002 | Elfwood artist: Rebecca Mellor | This is so striking. I love the effect of white on a dark background rather than the other way round. It brings a very spooky, almost uncomfortable air to the picture, like there's a secret that we're not being let in on. This is very expressive and extrememly impressive!! ;o) Thank you Rebecca, to be honest it is here because of the Elfwood theme, it was alreeady in the portfolio 'condemned'. *Looks very sheepy!* |
| May 1 2002 | Elfwood artist: Telma Filipa Dias S. | HUmmmm very nice. I love the colors! So dark...so gothic...I love it! Yeah maybe you could call this Gothic, I like it, thanks Telma. |
| Sep 8 2002 | Arwynn | I love it. Sometimes it's hard to get that "night" look in pictures for me. Im a night person too. This one has beautiful shades of blue it. Awesome job. Thanks Arwynn, I agree with you about the night look. I just had to try it. :) |
| Oct 16 2002 | Elfwood artist: Evil Ninja Rochelle Green | Spooky!! It looks like an illustration for a song..I dont know why LOL all the scythes remind me of notes on a stave! I really have to get away from this place, Anneke LOL the longer I spend commenting in elfwood, the weirder I get - especially with artists like you who fuel my imagination! ;) Ahh that's very good to hear! I love to fuel people's imagination! Thank you Rochelle! :) |
| Oct 28 2002 | Elfwood artist: Hadassah R. Cruz | Wow, I hadn't seen this one yet..it's beautiful, very gothic, which I like sometimes. ^-^ I never thought of gothic when I made this, but I think you are right, it looks a bit like gothic, Dassie. |
| Oct 31 2002 | Elfwood artist: Anneke de Rooij | Wow! I think this is my favourite one of your drawings so far. (except for the one of Lucifer. I liked that one too! :) ) I especially like the shadows playing across her face, and the mysterious way that you didn't elaborate on the other witchs' hoods. p.s: It's Good to see another Anneke! My dad is Dutch, but living in Australia, there are very few people who pronounce it correctly! It's quite irritating. :) I know, there isn´t any word you can bring up with the same pronouncation. Maybe something like 'cast' or 'fast', but it´s still not quite the same A. And for the parts 'ne' and 'ke' there isn´t really a word at all, for as far as I know! Some of my English friends know how to pronounce it though. :) |
| Nov 18 2002 | Elfwood artist: Irina Goodwin | "When shall we three meet again, in thunder, lighting, or rain? When the hurlyburly's done, when the battle's lost and won. That will be ere the set of the sun. Where the place? Upon the heath. There to meet with Macbeth." *shudders* I know that WAY too well. Nonetheless this picture is highly effective in it's style and imagery. The contrast of light and dark works well to highlight the picture and bring it out, making it more striking and clear. Irina my picture is just so mediocre and you make such a wonderful story to it! I never thought of that. Thank you so much! |
| Nov 30 2002 | Drunken Jawa | "Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble", anyone? This has a lot of moody, dark atmosphere to it. I love moody, dark atmosphere. Very nice. "Bubble Bubble Toil and Trouble! I wish I had thought of this when I made the painting, it would have come out much better! It would have been a wonderful picture description as well. Thank you Mr. Jawa! :) |
| Jan 29 2003 | Elfwood writer: Jorieke 'JoSav' Savelkouls | It looks so mysterious and yet comforting, as if this would be where I belong type o thing. The colorscheme really expresses the darkness. Cool! To be honest, it came all by accident, I hadn't the slightest idea what I was doing! :) |
| Feb 4 2003 | Elfwood artist: Jeanette 'Li' Vincent | What a unique pic :) Thank you Jeanette, I'm glad you like it. :) |
| Mar 20 2003 | Elfwood artist: Aimee ' Igorina ' Duncan | " When shall we three meet again? " " How about next Tuesday? " lol...this makes me think of the Salem witch trials perhaps it's her hat, looks very Puritan-ish. I can't believe I haven't commented on this picture...er...I don't think I have...anyway I love the somber colors and the eerie mood. She looks very serene yet unreal because of the shadowing. Lovely piece...just lovely For me it was a challenge to paint a face with such a shadow. To be honest it was not meant to be a witch at all, but it came out like that by accident. :) Thanks for the visit Aimee. |
| Jun 26 2003 | Elfwood artist: rachael harrison | Oooooh! I love the misty darkness! Very effective. When do they meet? I need to ask them something.... They have already met on June 21st on solstice. I'm very curious what you would like to ask them, can't you tell me? |
| Jun 28 2003 | Elfwood artist: rachael harrison | I just wanted to know if they prefer to use frogs legs or rats tails when making certain potions..... Considering frog's legs are a delicacy for many people (NOT for me!!), it might be the rat's tails. For me the true horror is a frog! :) |
| Aug 16 2003 | Katriona | Not really my thing, but its good anyway. :) Thank you Katriona. Not reilly my thing either, I was just testing if I could paint a face with such a shadow and some darkness in the back. So I'm glad you think it's good. :) |
| Aug 17 2003 | Elfwood artist: Heather 'Pixy' Lynn | Anneke, this is beautiful! You've done such a nice job creating the mood with the colors you used and the facial expression. Me loves! I'm really happy with your words, Heather. As I said in the comment above, this was just a trial. |
| Dec 2 2003 | Elfwood artist: Rebecca Carr | It's a great concept. The lines of the witches' hoods create an almost abstract design. I love pictures like this, ones that go against visual conventions. Whooo what a lovely comment! Thank you so much, Rebecca! |
| Jul 1 2004 | Elfwood artist: An 'Ysyra' Nuttin | This one i really like!!! Love the face!! And the background, how it all flows into one! Great job! Thank you very much for the nice words, Ysyra. Not many people visit my witches, I'm glad you like it. :D |
